Last month we got to ride the new Cotic Rocket. We came away from our time riding the new 150mm steel full suspension bike around the company’s local trails in the Peak District impressed.
We had one complaint though, and it centerered around the seatstay/droplink pivot studs located on the seat stays, just behind the seat tube. While riding we found they interfered with our pedalling, clipping our calf muscles with every pedal stroke, an annoying flaw that marred an otherwise fine handling bike.
It seems Cotic have taken this feedback onboard though, as today they’ve issued an update. Here’s the official word from Cy himself:
“Following some negative feedback on the seatstay/droplink pivot studs with the spanner flats, we’ve been working with our suppliers to find a solution. In the end, we’ve got to a different fastener supplier who can do things our framebuilders’ supplier couldn’t, and all the production Rockets will be coming with these lovely chrome finished flat headed pivots with an Allen key fitting. The final detail finished off beautifully.”
It’s a much much cleaner solution than the ugly solution on the bike which we rode, which you can see in this photo. It’s good to see Cotic taking on board such feedback, and shows the advantage of being a small company, changes are relatively easy to push through in a short-time frame.
The first batch of Rocket frames with this update will be arriving with Cotic at the end of May.
