Following hot on the heels of the SB-66, a 150mm all-mountain full-susser developed around a brand new suspension system called Switch Technology, Yeti has released two brand new models based on this first release. Plus there’s a new hardtail.

Say hello to the SB-66 Carbon. Yeti released its innovative new 150mm trail bike using the novel Switch Technology suspension to much fanfare, and it’s followed up that initial launch very quickly with the release of a carbon fibre version.

The new bike gets a carbon front triangle and swingarm that together with the Fox shock weighs about 6lbs, roughly a full 1lb lighter than the alu version. It’s not just weight has been improved upon, the stiffness of the frame is reportedly a marked improvement.

Yeti adds a new 29er to the range. Following shortly after the release of the groundbreaking SB-66, Yeti has given its new platform the 29er treatment. The SB-95 features the same Switch Technology dual-link suspension based around an eccentric link rotating as the rear wheel moves through its travel.

Talking of which, the SB-95 offers 120mm and is joined up front with the Fox 34. For now it’s available with an aluminium frame in four sizes. It which weighs somewhere in the region 7.5lbs, so only half a pound heavier than the 26er.

The novel Switch Technology is unchanged on the carbon SB-66, but the 1lb weight saving and extra stiffness should enhance the ride performance dramatically.

The carbon is beautifully finished. Even the post mounts for the rear disc brake are made from carbon, to reduce weight. Smooth, very smooth.

The SB-95 is one of the few 29ers we spotted at Eurobike to utilise the new 140mm Fox 34 fork, released only a few months ago.

Travel has been reduced to 120mm, down from 150mm on the launch SB-66, for the new 29er. Same suspension layout however, so should ride and feel very similar.
