London 2012 organisers have released details of ticket prices for the Olympic Games – with mountain biking among the cheapest sports.

Tickets for Hadleigh Farm, where there will be 3,000 seats as well as standing room around the course, will cost either £20 or £45.

Team GB’s cyclists captured 14 medals, including eight golds, from a possible 50 in Beijing – a 28 per cent share of the medals on offer.

And track, road race and time trial tickets are likely to be among the most popular when the Greatest Show on Earth rolls into town in less than two years time.

Locog have 8.8 million tickets to sell in order to raise £441 million and have pledged to make the Games affordable.

Tickets for the preliminary rounds at the velodrome will cost £20, rising to £120, while the bottom price for finals will be £50, topping out at £325.

Road race and time trial tickets cost between £20 and £60, while BMX prelim tickets range from £20 to £90, with finals tickets costing between £20 and £125.

Concession rates for children and seniors will be available for more than 200 of the 679 sport session, with full details to be released next year.

“There will be entry-level prices for many of the events which everyone will be able to afford,” said London 2012 chief executive Paul Deighton, who confirmed 90 per cent of tickets will cost £100 or less, with two-thirds less than £50 and 2.5 million tickets just £20.

“There will be some other schemes too which people should find very attractive.”

Prices rocket for athletics and swimming finals, with the best seats costing £725 and £450 respectively.

And the best seat in the house for the opening ceremony on July 27 will cost – you guessed it – £2,012.
