After many years of not being available in the UK, Jamis Bicycles are set to return as Evans Cycles announces it has secured exclusive distribution of the brand.
Jamis Bicycles’ history dates back to the 1970s when the company first released its Beach Cruiser model, quickly followed by its first mountain bike. The Dakota, Dakar and Durango names, popular during the early 1980s, will surely stir some memories of the older readers of this article.
Happy with the announcement, Mark Aspromonte, Director of International Sales at Jamis Bicycles said: “Jamis is very excited to have Evans, one of the top IBD chains in the world, represent our bicycles in the UK. We are confident that our approach to building excellent bikes — no gimmicks, no gadgets, no-nonsense, no-compromise – combined with the professionalism and strength of Evans will be a formula for success in the UK cycling market”.
“Jamis is a very strong and welcome addition to our exclusive bike brand portfolio. With reliable and consistent distribution via our unique UK framework and an enviable depth and breadth of models on offer, we very much look forward to enjoying the same success the brand has experienced in other countries globally.” Added Evans Cycles, MD, Mike Rice.
We’ll get a better look at the range soon but here’s a couple of highlights. The Durango 3 costs £729.99 and comes with a SRAM X7 groupset, the Bosa Nova is a road touring bike with a Reynolds 520 frame and the Xenith Pro is a full carbon race bike costing £2249.99.
The bikes will be available via Evans Cycles’ unique collection of channels including its network of 42 nationwide stores, online at www.evanscycles.com, and, more traditionally, mailorder via telephone.
