Garmin have just launched BirdsEye Select, a new service that allows you to choose just a chunk of OS mapping for your GPS device.

600 sq km sections can be purchased individually from tailored extracts of 1:25,000 scale Ordnance Survey Explorer maps and transfer to your Edge 800. This will provide you with an Ordnance Survey backdrop, complete with familiar symbols, contours, elevations, summits, paths, and more.

As well as OS raster mapping for Great Britain, Ordnance Survey Ireland mapping is also available at a scale of 1:50k. If you’re planning to travel abroad BirdsEye Select services for Germany, Austria, the Eastern Alps (including part of Italy), Switzerland and France are available.
