Airborne Direct, the bike industry’s leading
e-commerce company (www.airborne.net), is supporting the alterna-rock band
`bicycle’ by providing each member with its Black Widow hard tail mountain
bikes for the band’s State 68 tour.
Bicycle includes band mates Ed Jewell (bass), Kurt Liebert (lead vocals/guitar),
Andy Massey (guitar), and Siggi Birkis (drums). The Seattle-based group,
which released its epononymous CD, "bicycle" in 1999, rides from
gig to gig, something the band has done since 1995. Bicycle’s website, http://www.bicycletheband.com
has a daily report from band founder Liebert.
The first leg of bicycle’s US tour begins with a show at the Sundance Film
Festival in Park City, Utah on Jan. 24, and continues with the Outdoor Retailer
Show Jan. 29 in Salt Lake City. The tour continues in Colorado the entire
month of February. The band reconvenes in Portland, Maine for a comprehensive
East Coast tour, by bike, playing gigs in Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts,
Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York, Philadelphia, Delaware, Maryland.
Dubbed `State 68′, the summer tour boasts to be the largest rolling caravan
ever in rock history. Bicycle is also looking for 1,000 roadies to help
join in on the fun. Interested riders can contact Liebert at [email protected].
