Aston Hill Mountain Bike Area had a very special
guest on Wednesday 29th April when Jack Dee visited to record for his new series
Jack Dee’s Happy Hour. One of the segments in Jacks show includes Jack having a go
at what makes people happy to see if it rubs off on him. Mountain Biking seemed like
a good sport to have a go at and there aren’t many places better than Aston Hill
Mountain Bike Area to give it a go.
Starting off in the local bike shop, Mountain Mania, in Tring, Jack was equipped
with a bike and clothing before getting out onto the trails on Aston Hill. This was
Jack’s first taste of off road riding. The shoot took in many of the feature sections
on Aston Hill, including the Bomb Holes and the Duel Course, before heading onto
the Black Run, Aston Hill’s infamous downhill course. Jack really enjoyed his day
mountain biking, although he said he’d need to do a little work on his fitness before
he could give it another go.
The show also features members of Aston Hill Mountain Bikers, which is based on Aston
Hill. Membership is a requisite to ride on Aston Hill on a regular basis. With over
500 members it is also the largest mountain bike club in the UK.
Ian Warby, Firecrest Mountain Bike Racing, founder and manager of Aston Hill Mountain
Bike Area in conjunction with the Forestry Commission said:
"This is a great opportunity to showcase not only Aston Hill Mountain Bike Area
and Aston Hill Mountain Bikers, but to get the sport in general into the main stream
media. Aston Hill caters for riders from beginner through to National Champions and
provides the opportunity for people to try mountain biking in a safe and enjoyable
environment".
