He’s been best known as the biggest hair on the Pro mountain bike circuit for years, but this week Tinker Juarez added two further distinctions to his career.

Using the experience of his 40 years to good effect, Tinker took his Volvo Cannondale team Scalpel over 216 miles with over 25,000 feet of climbing (all at over 9000 feet altitude) to take victory in the first NORBA Solo 24hr National championship. Despite a very technical course he even cleared the whole lot with only two ‘dabs’!

His recovery was no doubt helped by his acceptance into the Mountain Bike Hall of Fame, as a reward for his long and succesful career which includes a Silver medal at the worlds, 4 National titles, and two places on the US Olympic squad.

“It’s been an amazing few days, that’s for sure,” acknowledged Tinker. “Winning my fourth national title was absolutely fantastic, but getting into the Mountain Bike Hall Of Fame is really special. It’s great to know that people would respect what I’ve done as a racer. I’ve got the best job in the world, and to receive recognition for doing it is more than I could hope for. I’m very, very grateful for the honor.”

And for the record, it’s not a perm it’s natural.
