Every year, IMBA grades all the states of the US for mountain bike access, based on quantity of trails, relationships with land managers and other user groups and the long-term outlook for mountain biking.
For 2002, IMBA is justifying the International part of its name by including Canadian provinces and all countries where IMBA has an affiliate club. Which includes England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland.
The grades are awarded based on input from IMBA staff and local groups, in combination with online voting from mountain bikers. And yes, that means you…
The idea is to identify areas that need more work, using the lessons learned from the successful areas. “IMBA’s Report Card is an effective way to measure the progress of the IMBA network,” says IMBA’s executive director Tim Blumenthal. “This is our third year of rating trail access, and we’re excited to check our progress around the world.”
The online voting form can be found here.
