It’s race team musical chairs season, but making the early running in the bums-on-seats stakes is the freshly-announced Yeti Europe team. The team has an impressive array of sponsors, the main one being Evolution Imports who are responsible for the presence of Yeti bikes in the UK. The nine rider line up is: Racing Elite DH and 4X, Scottish NPS Champ Iain Cookson, James Hughes and Dan Critchlow; Expert DH – Sion Jones, Colin Williams and Jim Marples; Dave and Nev Duggan in Senior DH and Phil Reed in Masters. As well as DH, rider/manager Colin Williams will be out competing in XC as well.
The team have got themselves a healthy array of trick gear for next year. The DH bike of choice is Yeti’s DH9 (that’s one in the picture) with a substantial nine inches of travel out back. Forks will be Manitou Dorados. Non-DH duties will be tackled on AS-X and ARC bikes and other components come from Race Face, Chris King, SDG, MRP, Shimano, Hope, Atomlab and Tioga. Spy Optics are the all-important eyewear sponsor, while negotiations continue for the equally vital technical clothing sponsor. Hopefully they won’t have to race in their vests…
Eligible riders will be doing the whole World Cup circuit, while the whole lot of ’em will be racing at the UK and Scottish national series and championships plus selected European, Maxxis and Avalanche Cup, regional UK and US NORBA rounds. Watch out for them…
