2010 elite women’s XC World Champion Maja Wloszczowska shows us her Scott Scale Contessa, ready and primed to race this season.
The complete bike weighs 8.8kg due to the technological developments Scott have made with its understanding of carbon fibre and how best to maximise the potential of the material. While this bike is available to buy from any Scott dealer, Maja has her very own custom painted edition.
“I love Scott frames especially because of the low weight and its rigidity. Usually I choose Scott Scale for XC races but Spark gives me amazing confidence and freedom during my off season rides. I’m the lucky person to have possibility of testing all kind of Scott bikes, from Plasma TT to Scale RC and I can’t wait riding my new 29er Scale RC.
Her bike is fitted with a DT Swiss XRC 100 fork, Shimano XTR groupset including brakes and wheels, which Maja likes because they’re “Rigid and durable on every conditions and every track.”
PRO components are found in the cockpit, with the handlebars, stem, grips and seatpost bearing the brands logo. Geax supply the tyres, its Gato 2.1in TNT finding favour with the rider: “I am using Geax tires since 2004 and I had never any problems. Saguaro is my favourite choice on the most World Cup races. If the weather conditions are bad Gato is the best what I can get. I like to ride on low pressure 1.2 – 1.4 Bar. I’m putting really big trust into Geax.”
There’s some other neat touches that make this bike stand out too. Maja admits to being “high tech crazy. So I like to use all possible benefits that of modern technology. Special tuning, Titanium bolts in seat post, stem and brake calipers. Let say “standard” procedure.”
