It’s autumn-going-on-winter in the UK, which means that some sort of outer garment to keep the weather at bay is something of a necessity. By a happy coincidence, the lovely people at top bike couturiers Gill have three all-new R21 Rapid Windbrake Smocks to give away to some lucky (and creative) Bikemagic members…

The Rapid Windbrake Smock is a lightweight windproof shell that sacrifices full waterproofness for extra breathability. The fabric’s not laminated or coated to help it shift all that moisture build-up, but it’s windproof and retains a reasonable amount of water repellency. And there’re pit zips in case you’re working really hard. It also features a brushed inner, making it comfortable next to the skin, plus chest and rear pockets, drop tail, Velcro cuffs, drawcords at neck and waist, 3/4 length front zip and reflective piping. Just the job for breezy days on exposed hillsides or dry but biting winter days.

One of Gill’s testers is none other than Giant pro Barrie Clarke. He says, “The Rapid Smock has been designed with attention to detail. It looks at home both on and off the bike.
