In the last Torq Teaser, Torq supremo Matt Hart asked, “Taking carbohydrate on board immediately after exercise has been proven to boost muscle and liver glycogen storage and hence facilitate recovery. Should this be high, medium or low GI carbohydrate?”
And the answer? “The answer was of course (a) High. A high GI food will be rapidly drawn into the bloodstream and quickly stored as glycogen in the muscles. You should aim to get roughly 1g of high GI carbohydrate per kg body weight down your neck within 15 minutes of finishing exercise. This has been proven to both boost recovery and strengthen the immune system.”
So there you go. Congratulations to Gary Hill of Southampton who supplied the first correct answer out of the virtual velvet drawstring bag. Your box of Torq Bars is on its way…
