Last weekend the 8th US Open of Mountain Biking kicked off at Diablo Freeride Park in Pennsylvania with over 600 riders racing for a slice of the massive $55,000 prize purse.

In the men’s race Andrew Neethling took the victory and walks away with $7500 but was pushed hard by second placed Gee Atherton. Justin Leov finished third. Also riding well was Brendan Fairclough who finished 6th.

There was a better results for Brendan Fairclough in the Kenda Giant Slalom however, as he saw off all challenges to climb onto the top step of the podium.

More success came in the women’s race, with Tracy Moseley taking the win. It was close though, the Brit finishing just a half second ahead of Jill Kinter and two seconds clear of Melissa Buhl in third. Fionn Griffiths placed sixth.

The US Open of Mountain Biking event was founded in 2003 to boost US mountain bike gravity racing and since then has been attracting the very best riders in the world.
