Gaerne says “it’s been designed for extreme inclement cycling conditions” and to that end uses a triple Velcro closure system with a tall thermal ankle collar with its own Velcro fastener. A Thinsulate and Pile interior keeps the feet warm.

The removeable insole is thermo-formed for a better fit and the heel cup ensures good stability when pedaling. For those brief periods when the only option is to dismount and push/carry the bike, a high abrasion and wear resistant sole offers high levels of grip and mud shedding capabilities bolstered by a pair of stud mounts at the front.
