Work for BM!

Do you know your Shimano from your SRAM, your Kona from your Cove? Can you turn a press release into a story, add in some pictures and make light work of a page of HTML?

Well, if you didn’t have a great knowledege of bikes and computers you wouldn’t be reading this would you? Magicalia Digital Publishing is looking for an editorial and production support assistant, and it could be you…

The details

We are looking for a cycling enthusiast who is keen to make their way into online publishing. Our online cycling portfolio, comprising Bikemagic and RoadCyclingUK, needs a bright and enthusiastic editorial and production assistant.

The post requires: excellent written English and a sharp eye for detail, interest in (and knowledge of) all things cycling, creativity, strong team working skills and the motivation to work well alone, stacks of initiative and a willingness to pitch in with all aspects of running and updating the website.

Bikemagic is our flagship site: launched in 1998, it has drawn a considerable and loyal audience of mountain bikers. RoadCyclingUK, meanwhile, is one of our newer sites, launched in April 2004. Yet it has already carved out its own niche in cycling media.

We are a small and friendly team aiming to provide a unique online experience to cycling enthusiasts. As editorial and production assistant you will have exposure to all sides of the business, liaising closely with the marketing, sales and technology departments, as well as working alongside the editorial team. You will be responsible for helping develop all aspects of the site; from editing copy for adverts and managing databases to providing editorial copy for the site and helping to grow the community.

You’ll either have a qualification in journalism or media or be able to display a strong interest and aptitiude for the position. Above all, an enthusiasm for online publishing and an understanding of the cycling media will be a major advantage.

Required skills are HTML, Photoshop and excellent written English. Useful skills include Animation Shop or similar, Microsoft Office. The position is based at our central London HQ in Farringdon.
