Wiggle Mountain Mayhem: dates announced

It’s “The world’s largest 24hour mountain bike endurance event” and it has been running now for 16 years – good news that the dates for the 2013 Wiggle Mountain Mayhem have just been announced. As to the venue…it’s no more Eastnor, but we’re promised a real treat once the event’s location is disclosed.

Here’s the word from the organisers:

WIGGLE MOUNTAIN MAYHEM 2013 EVENT DATES ANNOUNCED – BUT WHERE????

The 16th annual Mountain Mayhem, now into its second year with Wiggle as the headline sponsor has today announced the dates for 2013 – 15th and 16th June with camping from Friday 14th June.  However, the location remains a mystery.

Patrick Adams of Pacific Edge Events, owners and organisers of Wiggle Mountain Mayhem said “After last year’s Mayhem at Eastnor – as no doubt everyone knows the muddiest ever experienced – we decided it was time for a change.  Finding a new location for Wiggle Mountain Mayhem is no easy task.  There are very few places that have everything that we need”.  After weeks and months of searching, and travelling many hundreds of miles across the length and breadth of the UK, Pacific Edge believe they have struck gold:  “We are beside ourselves with excitement if the truth be known.  We believe we have found the perfect venue.  It is less than 40 miles from Eastnor, but as a private venue, we are extremely lucky to have found it.  There are well made forest tracks and gravely rock structure with high organic content making the soil drain well.  It is only through many hours of research that we did, but my goodness it was worth waiting for.”

The only problem is they can’t say where – yet:  “We are sworn to secrecy for a little while longer.  We are fit to burst!!  Suffice to say the venue is privately owned, never ever been used for cycling before and has some really exciting  mountain biking.  We can’t say better than that.”

Forms will be available to download at midnight on 28th February and take to Pat’s house for the almost legendary through-the-night pilgrimage to be the first to get your entry in.  On-line entry will be available from midday on 1st March from www.wigglemountainmayhem.com.  To keep fully informed with up-to-the-minute information and competitions etc, just Like the Wiggle Mountain Mayhem Facebook page and sign up to Twitter.(links on the website)

Jason Sims, Wiggle’s Event and Athlete manager said “We are delighted that Wiggle Mountain Mayhem is moving forward into a new era.  The new venue truly is a one off.  Due to reasons beyond our control, we are not able to say anything more about it at this stage, but we are just as excited as Pacific Edge.”

It might be year 16, but Wiggle Mountain Mayhem continues to be at the forefront of delivering real excitement in mountain biking.
