Leogang, Austria will host the White Style slopestyle competition for the fifth time on 29 January 2010, with the usual world class array of riders strutting their stuff.
In charge of designing the course, Kona Clump team rider Grant “Chopper” Fielder put all his creative power into a new course.
“I will stick to a similar finish with the step up step down part leading towards some big ass jumps,” says Fielder, “as I believe that the riders really liked these big hitters last time as well as it is a great spectators point. But there will be some changes nearer the top, to improve this section that was pretty challenging due to the pretty soft snow last time.
“The riders that liked the last set up will like it even better this year. I’m hoping to get a snow igloo in there somewhere too!”
23 riders from 12 countries including such luminaries as Andreu Lacondeguy, Martin Soedertstroem, Benny Korthaus, Lance McDermott, Trond Hansen, Yannick Granieri, Amir Kabbani, or Sam Pilgrim.
The qualifications are held on Friday afternoon, right next to the Schantei ski-lift, close to the town centre of Leogang. From 08:30pm on, the ten lucky finalists complete two runs to determine the winners of 4000 Euros overall prize money.
