On the weekend of the 28/29 July, mountain bikes from all over the south west of England will be competing in the second round of the Ukbikepark/Torico DH mountain bike race series. The venue is UKbikepark near Blandford Forum, with a new course having been crafted especially for the event. The track has over 400ft of altitude drop, with a mixture of technical rooty sections, berms, rock sections and plenty of opportunities to get your wheels off the ground. Winning times are expected to be around the 1:40 mark.
If you want to get the measure of the course, there’ll be a practice day (including uplift) on the Saturday for an extra fee. Camping is available on the Saturday night with on site toilets, BBQ with local quality produce and some DJs spinning their wares in the evening. Race day sign on and practice starts at 8am Sunday with racing kicking off at midday.
Timing will be by Dirt Racing using Tag Heuer equipment and prizes will be donated by Scratchuk, local bike shop Torico and UKbikepark. Torico will have a trade stand, demo bikes and will be providing technical support. Norco will also be there with demo bikes.
There’s about a thousand ways to find out more. Either call Ben at Torico on 01258 473770 or head to www.ukbikepark.com for a downloadable entry form. Or call the UKbikepark uplift/race hotline on 07881 571069.
