Nick Craig, Tracy Moseley and Steve Peat were among the 12 mountain bike legends unveiled as part of the UK MTB Hall of Fame at Wiggle Mountain Mayhem at the weekend.
The Hall of Fame is the idea of Pacific Edge Events, organisers of Mountain Mayhem, the UK’s biggest 24-hour race, and was created “in order to show recognition of the mountain bikers of all disciplined and also key figures in the mountain bike industry.”
Jason McRoy, Barrie Clarke, Caroline Alexander, David Baker, Martyn Salt, Helen Mortimer, Tim Flooks, Rob Warner and Tim Gould complete the list of 12 names pre-selected as the first inductees. Eight new legends of the sport, chosen by the public, will be inducted at Mountain Mayhem each year.
“These guys are all at the top of the tree in the UK mountain biking world,” said Patrick Adams and Jill Greenfield of Pacific Edge Events.
“They are legends, not only here, but in some cases around the world. We felt it was time they were recognised for everything they have done that has shaped UK mountain biking into what it is today. They have built a sport on which an entire industry has grown. We are proud of each and every one of them.”
