Two Brits on the podium!

Men‚s Elite Downhill
French domination of the Men‚s Downhill World Cup continued at the fourth
round of the series in Mont-Ste-Annes, Canada at the weekend. Fabien Barel
won from fellow Frenchman and runaway series leader, Nicolas Vouilloz, with
Britain‚s Steve Peat picking up his second successive third place. Vouilloz
now leads the series by 290 points from David Vazquez Lopez (Esp), with Peat
moving up into third place.

Women‚s Elite Downhill
In the Women‚s Downhill race, Missy Giove turned back the clock with a
vintage win on the twisty Mont-Ste-Annes course and, in the series, she has
closed to within 110 points of Anne-Caroline Chausson, who was second. These
two are now pulling away at the top of the standings.Best of the British
riders was Helen Mortimer in thirteenth, with Adele Croxon continuing her
consistent season in sixteenth place. Helen now holds seventh place in the
World Cup standings.

Men‚s Dual
Best British Result of the weekend came from Scott Beaumont who was
runner-up in the Men‚s Dual, whilst Steve Peat managed his second podium
with third place. The winner was, almost inevitably, a Frenchman, Cédric
Gracia. Beaumont is now third in the series, with Peat back in eighth.

Cadel Evans showed he‚s well on his way back to full fitness with an quality
win by over two minutes from Christoph Sauser, with series leader Christophe
Dupouey back in third place. However, with Miguel Martinez back in 23rd
place, Dupouey strengthened his position at the top of the World Cup
Standings.
