The UCI have just released some interesting and exciting figures from this year’s World Cup live feed, stating that 1.26 million people have watched the UCI World Cup this year, be it the DH, XC or XCE, this represents about a 30% increase from last year’s figures!
The most popular round of the World Cup was in Val Di Sole, which reached 361,370 viewers! And the most popular event was the downhill World Cup in Fort William with 235,357 viewers!

That’s an incredible amount of growth for the viewing figures, but what does this mean for the sport itself? Is this a good way of gauging the sports growth in its entirety? Or has the live feed just become a little more accessible and user friendly?
Surely this shows a growth of the sport as well as the growth to the live feed, all you need to do is look at the amount of new trail centres popping up all over the country, to me the growth of the sport can only be a good thing, but what do you guys think? Do you like the fact our sport is niche? Or would you love to see it go more mainstream?
