Absolutely foul conditions (even worse than his last win at Vars) didn’t stop Sheffield’s Steve Peat taking a convincing victory in the Snowshoe round of the NORBA series.
While other riders struggled with the conditions, Peat proved the time he’s spent in California means he hasn’t forgotten how to ride British winter style conditions. He also managed to take 4th place in the Dual Slalom to complete a very succesful weekend.
The Trek corporation (including Gary Fisher) also went home happy, with Roland Green (Trek / Volkswagen) winning the short track and full length XC races with Pavel Tcherkassov (Subaru / Fisher) 3rd in the short track and Ryder Hesjedal (Subaru / Fisher) 3rd in the XC. Chrissy Redden (Subaru / Fisher) took first in the short track but was beaten into second in the XC by team mate Mary Grigson. Meanwhile Susan Haywood and Rutthie Matthes (both Trek / Volkswagen) took 3rd spots in the short course and XC respectively. Trek / Volkswagen also took the win in the Dual courtesy of Wade Bootes.
