Spotting crazes is the stuff of legends. Often the madder the better. But not always. Look at Pete Tomkin’s Crud Catcher, or Animal’s velcro watch strap. Genuinely good applications of existing materials. Then there’s: Rubik’s cube; Sinclair’s, well Sinclair really; wet-look perms; I could, and often do, go on.
Picking up on a craze early often means big bucks.
