Animal-Commençal rider Dan Atherton said “This could be really useful to the future of mountain biking in the UK, we’re happy to be involved and support the study.”
The study is being conducted by Dan Harmon from the Warwick Business School at the University of Warwick with funding from the Higher Education Funding Council for England. Dan is currently travelling the country interviewing event organisers from all disciplines and
analysing event participation data from the past three years. The
questionnaire forms the third part of the study and is designed to
guage the opinions of riders themselves.
The study has already received support from many, including organisers
of the Chain Reaction National Points Series, World Champs, SDA
Series, Scottish XC Series and numerous others.
Ian Warby, Senior
Off-Road Development Officer for the CTC said, “This is a great step
forward for our sport, there is a real lack of concrete research on
particpation in mountain biking and this has the potential to provide
what we need to help drive forward the development of mountain biking
in the UK.”
