SCUM rises to the top again

After having to cancel the Innerleithen round because of the foot & mouth, the SCU guys have managed to secure a brand new venue for the next round on May 6th.

Strathyre, Perthshire (A84) has some of the raddest terrain in it’s local forests. The mountain being used has transport right up to 10 yards from the start and the rider pickup is below the finish, also there’s a bar less than 1/2 mile from the finish.

The new course is one of the steepest in Scotland (that means steep!) with a drop of 350 metres (1260 feet) and runs at about 3 mins long, real rooty, rocky and technical all the way down with little or no pedalling (that’s your choice!). To say we’re looking forward to it would be an understatement.

The SCU DH committee however have decided to limit entries to 200 riders for the main event, a juvenille race also runs during the breaks for the younger ones. This limit has been set as they feel the quaility of the event would have been comprimised if they accepted all entries that may be generated with the lack of racing in England. It’s based on a first come first served basis. Riders will get full transport on Saturday (12-5pm) and Sunday (9am on) and 2 timed runs.

To comply with regulations all bikes have to arrive clean and will be disinfected! No rinse = no ride.
