The British Heart Foundation has added a spring off-road ride to its calendar of events.

The Heartride, in Newton Stewart, Dumfries and Galloway, on March 26 2011, features a 10km blue route and 17km red route.

The blue ride takes in Larg Hill on a moderately difficult trail ideal for enthusiastic families. 

The red option experiences the Nut Cracker and will represent a challenge for experienced mountain bike riders. 

There will also be three road rides – 60 miles, 30 miles and 15 miles.
