Have you ever punctured and found replacing the tube a pain in the butt and a timely exercise? Try Doc Blue a tire and tube sealant from Schwalbe that is quick, easy and hassle free.
I had heard about sealants, the way it was described to me I thought it was going to be more hassle than it was worth. Yet saving my self nearly £70 pounds on a new silk tub for a Corima disc was defiantly well worth trying any tricks in the book. When the kind gentlemen from Schwalbe gave me some to try I was only too happy to put it to the test.
The Sealant comes with a tool to put over the valve so that the valve core can be removed. Once the core is removed and you have given the bottle a bit of a shake, rattle your ready to roll insert the sealant, for a race tyre 25ml is recommended, for standard tyres 50mls and for larger tyres (2.25” or wider) 75ml. When the right amount has been inserted, grease and replace the valve core, inflate the tyre then simply ride away. How easy is that?! You don’t have to take the wheel off the bike!!
The only thing I would say is: if your wheel is off the bike like mine was, ensure you are wearing something that you don’t mind getting dirty. I span my beautiful wheel, at first I didn’t think it was working as I could hear the rush of air then, SPLAT, blue sealant up my shirt, ok it works!
The sealant is meant to last for 3months; I would love some feedback in regards to this from anyone else who has used the product. For around £4.50 it is worth a try and defiantly worth it for me as I now have a few months up my sleeve to save for a new tyre before race season.
