The start straight last year
Think Gorrick and you think short lap XC races. Not anymore. The Gorrick 100 is back for its second year, and as always seems to be the way, this year promises to be better than ever.
On 30 April Surrey Hill near Bracknell will be the venue for a ten mile course, packed with loads of singletrack. For the biggest challenge riders can choose to do seven laps, but you can do two, three, four, five or just six if you prefer a slightly easier ride.
And with title sponsor Sagem there will be some top prizes, including a “do I need a TV this big?” 56in Widescreen unit weighing it at £1,800. Fear not, there’ll also be runner up prizes of set top boxes, photo printers and mobile phones. The first rider to complete seven laps will need to find room in their car for a 28in LCD TV. Nice.
Rob Lee, Masters World 24 hour Solo Champion, said of the event last year: “Having sampled the course, knowing that everybody got a memento if they completed their distance, and given that the event is so much cheaper than other UK enduros, I can’t believe this race isn’t two or three times bigger.”
Entry forms are available on www.gorrick.com, along with results, reports and photos from the latest races.
