SRAM has issued an official recall of 2008 and 2009 RockShox Domain 302 and 318 forks with steel steerers, having experienced failures of what is described as a “very small quantity” of forks.
The forks affected have serial numbers between 09T8XXXXXXX to 42T8XXXXXXX (where the Xs are a bunch of other numbers – it’s the digits at the front that are important). Anyone with a potentially affected fork is advised to stop using it immediately and to contact the retailer from whom it was bought. Affected forks will be replaced free of charge with an equivalent model.
Domain forks with aluminium steerers aren’t subject to the recall – if in doubt, find a magnet and see if it sticks to the steerer, or get yourself to the bike shop and let them tell you…
