Uma Paro, an award winning hotel in Bhutan, is running seven exhilarating trips to Bhutan next year. The Himalayan area may not be the first destination that pops to mind when planning a riding trip, but spread your radar a little wider than the usual resorts and you might just be rewarded with a spectacular trip.
Of the available trips, the Mountains and Monasteries bike ride is the most appealing. It takes cyclists along remote roads and trails, singletrack that has never experienced much traffic, across five distinctly different valleys and promises some breathtaking landscapes.
A particular highlight worth mentioning is the descent from the country’s highest road pass of Chele La, at 3,810m.
The trip takes place from 7-10 July 2008. 10 nights cost from £1,350, based on two sharing, with full board accommodation, English speaking local guides, fees, taxes and airport transfers – flights not included.
