At last some good news from Dafydd at Coed-y-Brenin, home of the Red Bull trail. They are planning to open the Red Bull route and all visitor centre facilities by the weekend.
However they will be running very strict controls to stop any chance of disease spreading.
ONLY the Red Bull route and Dual course will be open for use – not the Karrimor or MBR routes.
All bikes must be jetwashed (the on site wash will be operating for free) before and after riding and there will probably be disinfectant treatments as well. No scrub, no ride, no exceptions, is the rule.
The trail won’t be open until Friday, so save your riding till the weekend or face a wasted journey.
Although no other trails will be open we reckon the Red Bull is good for plenty of laps before it gets boring (we managed two days worth once) but be prepared for traffic, so bring your patience not your ‘attitude’.
Trail teams will be out making sure riders stick to restricted areas, so don’t be a pillock and try and ride off piste. They’re sticking their neck out to let you ride the Red Bull, and they’re likely to take a very dim view of anyone they catch trying to get round the precautions. We know for a fact they’re always looking for large objects to build into the foundations of the singletrack sections, if you catch our drift.
