Race against the pros at the London Bike Show

Fancy taking on the pros at this week’s London Bike Show? The DMR Bikes Dual Pump Track Challenge is open to all riders to race against the pros with £250 prize money each day.

It should take riders around 20 seconds to race the course

Entry costs £12.50 and a time trial event will establish a finals field of 32 riders, before a series of head-to-head races to find the day’s champion. Bikes are restricted to 24-inch wheels (no BMXs) and helmets must be worn.

Open practice takes place at 10.30am-11.30am each day, with qualifying at 1-2pm and the finals at 3-4pm.

In 2011 there have been three previous DMR Bikes Dual Pump Track Challenge events, with each producing a different winner. Round one was won by Bernhard Kerr, Scott Beaumont took round two and Ben Baker reigned supreme in round three.

All three will be at the London Bike Show to find out who will be king of the pump track, with UK pros Will Longden, Olly Wilkins, Sam Reynolds, Lewis Lacey and Scott Roberts and Duncan Ferris also set to battle it out.

The track will be slightly different to the other pump tracks that have been used so far for the series. This time the riders will be on a wooden track that will be designed and built by ShoreTrax. The wooden track will be a dual race with riders racing head-to-head around it in less than 20 seconds over rollers and around berms.

The London Bike Show is in its second year and will take place on January 12-15, with huge range of brands, stands and hands-on demos. A ticket to the show is also valid for entry to the Outdoors Show, the newly-launched Active Travel Show and the London International Boat Show.

Tickets are available from www.thelondonbikeshow.co.uk
