The second round of the National Points Series takes place this weekend, along with the first round of the newly-launched National Marathon Series, previously the Trek 6-4-2.
Margam Park is the venue with a 25km course, which boasts the mandatory tough climbs and fast descents. The National Marathon Series is a three round series, with the first in Wales, then England and finally Scotland. Riders will compete over four laps to find the toughest rider.
Riders wanting an altogether milder weekend will be able to choose 25 or 50km rides around the same course. That’s Sunday sorted then. Sunday will play host to the second round of the NPS XC series; Oli Beckingsale will be keen to hold onto his lead after taking the win in the first round, and Jenny Copnall will trying to do the same, but Jenn O’Connor and Kate Potter are sure to be hot on her heels.
Margam park is easy to find, follow the event signs after exiting at junction 38 of the M4. The venue has plenty of facitlities; a hard standing car park, large campsite, hot showers, running water, Café Jackets will be doing the catering, and bike washing courtesy of Weldtite. There’s also fun stuff to keep the kids entertained if you’re bringing the whole family.
