Further details of the Premier MTB Series have been announced. The series includes the National Points XC Series but extends the action with the Trek 6-4-2 choose-your-distance enduro series, short track racing, free under-12s races and other attractions.
Organisers Inevent say that entry fees are reduced by around 20% on average compared to last year, with big reductions for the Juvenile and Youth categories. Prize money is up and there’ll be product prizes fo all categories. The new short track events should be popular with racers and spectators, and all the short track entry fees go into the prize fund. You can save more by entering multiple events and by entering in advance.
As well as the racing, younger riders can take advantage of coaching advice from the Go Ride programme at each event. And there’s the opportunity to learn from the movers and shakers of mountain biking with Q&A sessions over the weekend.
The first round sees the return of Newnham Park to the schedule with a brand new course. The Pipeline’s not in it, but fear not – there’s a whole new descent for bloodthirsty spectators to congregate at, the Mineshaft. Gary Fisher and Keith Bontrager are both showing up to race Grand Vets and 6 hour Trek enduro and Fisher’ll be doing the Q&A session.
The series hangs together like this:
- April 11/12 – Newnham Park, Plymouth
- May 8/9 – Drumlanrig Castle, Dumfries
- June 12/13 – Sherwood Pines, Mansfield
- August 7/8 – Margam Park, Port Talbot
