The Royal Bath and West Showground, Shepton Mallet, will be the host of this year’s National Adventure Sports Show, billed as Europe’s biggest Extreme and Street Sports Festival and BIKEmagic’s going to be there! The festival takes over the whole weekend of 20th-22nd July in a huge celebration of the outdoor adventure lifestyle and in true festival style has festivities and activities continuing well into the evening.
is that a pig shed in the background or are you just pleased to see me? |
During the day you can enjoy a whole range of what the organisers promise to be: “spectacular freesport demonstrations including a snowboard big air pro-competition, the British wakeboard double-up championships, a downhill mountain bike pro event and the BMX street challenge”. There’s also a Vert ramp in the heart of the exhibition hall which will play host to a free-style challenge by team extreme.
In addition to all the spectating there’s a participation theme, you can take along your mtb to the open access trail zone, try out the skate and BMX park. There’s the Extreme sensation zone with bungee jumping and reverse bungee, skad, free-fall simulators and a white knuckle fairground.
In the evening there’s the surf themed bar and a concert featuring, among others, Run DMC. If you’re thinking “how the hell am I supposed to get out of Shepton Mallet at midnight on Saturday?” you can camp.
The organisers have kindly given BIKEmagic a weekend pass for two to give away. E-mail us the answer to this question:
“Where is the National Adventure Show next month going to be held?” All correct responses will have their e-mail addresses printed out and then pulled from a manky old bike helmet that Robin’s been wearing all summer to find a winner who will have their name plastered on the BIKEmagic forum.
