Indoor dirt jumps are something of a rarity. You’ve got Sheffield Dirt Society’s Wheelbase and then a variety of temporary jumps built for shows and events. Into the latter category falls the forthcoming Marzocchi Airdrome, claimed to be “the biggest indoor dirt jump event worldwide”.
The Airdrome contest will be run on 15 December as part of SuperCross-Over Munich, an indoor motocross event that’s been going since 1999. Last year over 20,000 spectators came to Munich’s Olympic Hall for the event, so Airdrome is likely to have one of the larger audiences seen at a mountain bike comp.
The list of confirmed riders includes most of the usual suspects – Cameron McCaul, Jamie Goldman, Carlo Dieckmann, Timo Pritzel, the UK’s Lance McDermott and Grant Fielder, Trond Hansen, Lluis Lacondeguy, Andreu Lacondeguy, Darren Berrecloth and so on. Footage from the event is bound to crop up in next year’s DVD releases, but if you’re in a position to go and see first hand then head for www.supercrossover for more details.
