A new month dawns, and with it the weather is starting to make a turn for the better. The days are getting longer, it’s starting to warm up and the daffodils are blooming; spring is right around the corner.
If, like us, you’re riding your bike more frequently or just getting back into riding after winter hibernation, you might want to look at doing an organised event in March to boost your motivation. To help you out, we’ve listed a few events that get the Bikemagic seal of approval.

Wiggle Super Series – Southern Rough Ride – 11 March

Spirthill Trail Bike Enduro – 17 March
An off-road endurance event around Calne in Wiltshire, this event offers a 2 and 4 hour ride with a 6km route.
Aston Hill Black Run Race – 25th March
First race of the new mini-series of downhill races held at Aston Hill, this spring race. And from the organiser’s description, it sounds good: “The Black Run offers everything you should want from a challenging race track. In between the tall pine trees, sections of chalky trail wind down the hill like a white snake. Bends tighter than Bruce Dickinson’s spandex pants lead on to more jumps than Van Halen could even muster (well okay not quite) and to top it off, there are more nasty roots than all the combined rock mop perms of 80’s glam metal band, Poison.”

UCI World Cup XC and DH – 17-18 March
Taking to Pietermaritzburg, South Africa for the opening round of both the cross country and downhill disciplines, the world cup circus gets underway for 2012. There’s lots at stake this season as most of the athletes prepare for a place in the London 2012 Olympics in August, so the racing will be of the highest level.
