The MTB event lifecycle often seems to involve popular events accruing all manner of sub-events, sideshows, extra attractions and all of the other accoutrements of a splendid bikey weekend. The Newnham 90 is a case in point – once upon a time it was a simple 90km enduro (although at the time that was a fairly innovative concept). It’s grown and expanded over the years, and now it’s part of the Ultimate Pursuits Dirty Weekend festival. So as well as the usual Newnham 90 package (including, but not limited to, a great course, full facilities, pasta party, cream teas, Shimano bike fettling and High5 fuelling) you’ve got a whole stack of other great stuff going on – the Shred Super XC race, Animal Freecross (a crowd-friendly freeride/BSX hybrid offering points for style as well as pace), Martyn Ashton trials displays, a DMR-sponsored dirt jam, a round of the NPS 4X series and a night time trial. Oh, and freestyle MX displays, minibike racing and tons of demo bikes for you to try out from the likes of Litespeed, Cove, Rocky Mountain, Scott, Specialized and Tomac.
Hang on, there’s more. We’re promised a big expo area, free bike wash, a bike crêche, massage tent, internet café and a huge event party. And of course camping on-site, ‘cos you don’t want to be too far from the action…
