National champion Liam Killeen spearheads Great Britain’s 12-rider squad for next weekend’s Dalby Forest Cross-Country World Cup round.
The 2006 Commonwealth Games gold medallist, who finished seventh at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, will ride the elite men’s category in Yorkshire after finishing 27th at the first World Cup round in South Africa.
World under-23 silver medallist Annie Last will ride up a category and compete with the elite women, despite being just 20 years of age, while downhill world champion Tracy Moseley will hit the Dalby trails as a guest rider.
“For this year’s Dalby World Cup we’ve been able to select riders in each of the categories and everyone is looking forward to competing on the course in front of a home crowd,” said GB mountain bike coach Phil Dixon.
“We made a solid start to the World Cup season and we’re looking to build on that in the run-up to London 2012.
“I’m also pleased to have a world champion in the squad – Tracy was keen to support the home World Cup while also gaining experience in an elite cross-country race which will serve as good preparation for the rest of her season.”
David Fletcher, Kenta Gallagher, Steven James will ride the men’s under-23 division, while Lily Mathews will take her place in the women’s under-23 field.
Grant Ferguson, Matthew Sumpton, Ben Summer make up Great Britain’s junior men’s line-up, while Katy Winton and Bethany Crumpton will ride the junior women’s race.
