The first round of the Kona Mash-Up is only a couple of weeks away and will open its doors at the Glyncorrwyg MTB Centre, Afan Forest on the 12 June.
Now in its third season, the Kona Mash-Up continues to be popular with its unique concept of combines timed and un-timed stages on the best sections of the White’s Level and the July trail. You race the best bits and ride back up the hills at a leisurely speed, with electronic timing keeping tabs of your performance, with your accumulated time that determines your position within the overall event as well as within the particular stage
There’s two categories to choose from, enduro and technical. Pick enduro and will be around 40km in length with a mixture of DH, XC and trail riding and riders will be timed on five sections of climbs, singletrack and DH.
In the technical category all sections of the course will be ridden but timing will only occur on three special singletrack and DH bits, so you can ride (or push) back up the hill, that time not being included in your result.
There will be prizes for the over all winner in each category as well as for every timed section – so lots of stuff to be won.
