Job title: Salesperson / Shop Manager.
It’s important for me to get someone very good for selling in one of my bicycle shops. But don’t underestimate the extreme complexity involved in selling in a bike shop. There are c500,000 products that we are expected to be able to get access to. The next time you go into a shop and want a specific product, remember that’s 1 in 500,000. The product range is changing every year as well, so this is a technically demanding position. I maintain that there is a great deal more complexity and ongoing change in bicycle retailing than there is in nursing or most other professions. Please also remember that generally the great British public are a bunch of ungrateful b….eings. So what we need is someone with a great attitude, patient constitution, willingness for lifelong learning, accepting of constant change / grey information and self motivating.
Anyone still interested in this Herculean task should send a CV or E-mail to Kim Davies telling him that actually it all sounds rather easy.
