Innerleith uplift operator David Tallontine having some time off
We’ve been reporting for some time on the ins and outs of the uplift service at Innerleithen in Scotland. All uplift services in Forestry Commission forests were suspended following a safety review, and a replacement service for the popular DH venue of Innerleithen has been a long time coming.
But the wait is over. From 28 July, Innerleithen will have a new uplift service operated by Uplift Scotland, run by David Tallontine. He’s been operating uplifts at Ae Forest for several years.
Hugh McKay of Forestry Commission Scotland said:
“We will be very pleased to be able to get the venue buzzing again with
riders. The Innerleithen routes are very popular and there’s plenty of
races booked in throughout the year. I know the start of the uplift
service will be a welcome boost for riders and the spin-offs of more
bikers to the area will benefit local businesses too.”
Tallontine added:
“I’ve been in the biking business for seven years now and have ridden
many times competitively on the downhill circuit. Innerleithen’s
reputation is huge and I’m personally really pleased to be managing the
uplift service for bikers.
“I’ve been working closely with Forestry Commission Scotland to get the
uplift up and running. They are just as keen as I am to help develop
Innerleithen as a first class place for riders. I hope riders enjoy and
continue to use the uplift so that Innerleithen’s reputation grows even
bigger.”
There’ll be a website any day now at www.upliftscotland.com, but in the meantime call 07709 144299 for further information and bookings.
