The lovely chaps at Gorrick MBC have just sent us details of their Autumn event schedule. The main news is a new XC venue near Basingstoke, promising “loads of open singletrack” in beech woodland. Always good to know what sort of trees you’re trying not to hit. Gorrick is also talking to other landowners about more new venues for future races. The Autumn XC races are on 28 September at the new Basingstoke site, 19 October at Yateley, Hants and 9 November at Crowthorne, Berks.

The club also has a new event format, the Rally Raid Point-to-point. As the name suggests, the Rally Raid involved riding from point-to-point on bridleways and tracks keeping to different timed schedules according to ability. It’s a sort of enduro-meets-Audax kind of thing. The first one is on 7 December at Normandy, Surrey.

Finally, there are two TrailTrax MTB orienteering-style events – 31 August, Liss, Hants and 28 December, The Cross, Eversley. More details and entry forms for all Gorrick events at www.gorrick.com.
