Forestry Commission go downhill in Hamsterley

The Forestry folk at Hamsterley have got together with the local riders of the Hamsterley Mountain Bike Association, and with Descend MTB Promotions to paln and build a totally new “pro” downhill course.

The course will be officially opened on the weekend of 30th June / 1st July when riders are invited to try the course and meet the rangers and builders involved. It will also be an excellent chance to pre-ride the course before it’s used for the NAMBS series on 14th July. After this weekend a small fee will be payable to use the course if you’re not a club member.

The course starts near the Grove car park, two miles along the forest drive from the visitor centre, and the open weekend will run from 10am – 4pm both days. The forest visitor centre is open daily 10am to 4pm (11am – 5pm weekends) and the tea-room operates between 10am and 5pm daily. Further information is available on 01388 488312.
