There’s a small possibility that you may have noticed the imminent onset of Christmas, which if nothing else is a good excuse for a party. As if an excuse is needed, of course. If you’re vaguely in the south Lakes area on Saturday 13 December, allow us to recommend the Epic Mountain Bike Christmas Party taking place in the Square Orange in Kendal from 8pm. It’s being organised by the same people who ran the very successful Bike Night at the recent Kendal Mountain Festival, with Biketreks in Ambleside stumping up a bunch of prizes and giveaways – vouchers, eyewear, other stuff.

Roll in live music from Keswick-based indie six-piece Obrigado and DJ-assisted tunes until the early hours and you should have a very fine evening indeed. Also note that the Square Orange has a selection of fine local ales…
