This
week all cyclists should take extra care when you’re hammering up and down canal
banks around the country – watch out for more people than usual with their tackle
out.



No… it’s not national "Dirty Mac Flasher" week, but a similar sort of
wierdo… National Fishing Week starts today.



The canal banks that we know and love, that connect nice areas of riding and that
are a great alternative to battling with Mr Car and Ms Lorry will be swamped by depressed
men seeking refuge from their nagging wives, and having to go fishing because they
haven’t got a garage to hide in.



Their ridiculous long rods protrude across the towpaths, but do make great bunny-hop
obstacles. Quite why they need such long rods and can’t just go and sit at the other
side of the canal I neither know, nor want to know.

So watch out out there…
