Dafydd Davis, Forest Sports Development Adviser, architect of the hugely successful Welsh purpose-built MTB trail network and all-round top bloke has been named in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List – he’s to receive an MBE. Or, in full, he’s to become a member of the Civil Division of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire. He’ll need wider business cards now…
Dafydd’s also probably the most modest man in Britain so we know he won’t want much of a fuss made. But without his (largely unrecognised and often under-rewarded) efforts, we wouldn’t have Coed y Brenin, Nant y Arian, Afan Argoed or any of the other Welsh centres. It was Dafydd who managed to persuade the powers that be in the Forestry Commission that building challenging bike trails in the forests would be a good idea. And he was right.
Congratulations to Dafydd from everyone at Bikemagic. Now, what tyres for Buckingham Palace?
