Unless you’ve been living clinging to a rock with a community of barnacles and whelks for the last decade, you’re probably at least vaguely familiar with the Crankworx MTB event at Whistler, BC. It’s been in all the glossy mags, it’s in the current crop of bike films, it’s perilously close to achieving media ubiquity. And thanks to the Extreme Sports Channel, it’ll soon be another step closer – Crankworx will be on TV on Saturday 21 October at 8pm (and a few more times after that).
The main attraction is the ever-impressive slopestyle competition, with the top riders spinning, flipping and tricking their way down the specially-constructed drop, jump and feature-laden course. But the show also features the epic Garbanzo Downhill and frenetic 4X events.
More details at www.extreme.com. And have a shufti at the rest of the schedules too – with Drop-In TV and a two-part programme on the Cape Epic stage race there’s plenty to keep the bike-riding viewer busy.
