The new Contour ROAM expands the company’s range of compact cameras with a new hands-free model.
It bares a visual similarity with the other cameras in the Contour range, and packs a 1080p video mode but is much smaller and lighter, weighing just five ounces. It’s also waterproof up to one metre so it’ll better survive the approaching winter conditions or being dropped in a puddle, while the 170-degree wide-angle lens captures all the action in brilliant detail.
Like all Contour cameras, the ROAM uses a simple “Instant On-Record” switch so even if the camera is mounted to your helmet or some other hard to reach place, it’s easy to get recording without having to stop your ride. It uses the same rotating lens with two built in lasers to ensure it’s level, opening up a whole host of mounting possibilities.
“ContourROAM is all about capturing action video easily while having versatility of use across all sports and environments. We created this new hands-free video camera to take the guesswork out of whether the camera is recording or not and to capture and share video with the greatest of ease,” said Marc Barros, CEO of Contour.
He adds: “ContourROAM is so lightweight and compact you don’t even notice it’s there. It goes wherever the action is, from action sports to team sports to weekend adventures. Just slide the record switch forward and go big.”
No word on UK pricing yet but the US price is $200.
